Healthy Quote
Greg Norman on the importance of proper equipment:
"I drive it farther than ever. And I used to be the longest driver in the world. I used to have to kill it to carry 275. Now I carry it 300 with slower club speed."

  1. How can Golf-Health help me lower my scores? I am not in a lot of pain.

Health is not merely the absence of pain, rather it is the feeling of well being: physically, mentally, and emotionally. Going out on the course, feeling good, strong, and balanced does wonders for your confidence. Just knowing that you will play well will make you more relaxed and let you enjoy your day more.

  2. I feel mentally and physically tired after two hours of golf especially when I walk the course! What can I do to increase my endurance?

Most golfers don’t think about stamina. But when you get tired and weak you will not be able to swing the same way you did two hours earlier. Start a walking, cycling, yoga, tai chi or other exercise program that gets your heart rate up for at least twenty minutes. This will increase your endurance. Also look at your food intake on and off the course – are you perhaps running out of "juice?" When and what did you eat or drink last? Check out the Nutrition segment of this web site.

  3. “Pain-Free Golf” Recommends stretching and exercises for golfers. Why is that?

During the golf swing our body moves at a speed of up to 100 mph. This fast, explosive motion on a repetitive basis, say around 160-200 times (striking the balls 90 times plus practice swings) over a four-hour period of time needs pliable, resilient muscle and ligaments. Some of the excercise tools in the BODY section will be the right ones for you.

  4. Why is it important to do on-course stretching?

In Golf, muscles work in quick short bursts of long-range motion at high speeds. The perfect scenario to get hurt. Stretching during a game keeps them warm and supple for your next shot.

Our 5 Minutes to Better Golf Cards is the perfect reminder that fits neatly into your golf bag.

  5. Why is tension so bad for golf?

The old golf expression “tight is right” about a chronic “slice” still holds true. Tension adversely effects free movement. When you hit golf balls with a relaxed swing the movement just flows. When you try to muscle it or are tight, you get in the way of your own golf swing. A smooth, tension free golf swing helps to bring the club head square at the time of impact, with less effort and less pain.

About Dr. Reichardt

Christian H. Reichardt, DC, CCSP, has been a practicing doctor of chiropractic since 1983. He was a disability evaluator for the State of California, but then turned his attention from work-related injuries to sports injuries due to his own involvement in sports.

He became one of the first Certified Chiropractic Sports Physicians in the U.S.A. in 1986, as well as a Diplomat of the American Academy of Pain Management.

His practice in Santa Monica, California draws a large clientele of Hollywood celebrities, as well as professional and amateur athletes. He has worked with a number of US Olympic Team members and Golf professionals. In addition, he served as a staff- doctor for the 3 on 3 “Hoop It Up” basketball series. Working with this caliber of athletes for over 18 years, Dr. Reichardt is uniquely positioned to understand the golfer's needs and athletic requirements.

He has written the acclaimed book "PainFree Golf" contributes articles for a number of golf publications; plus teaches golf pros and healthcare practitioners about physical limitations and their effect on the golf-swing. He publishes and maintains the acclaimed Golf-Health.com Website, a review and testing site for golf products. Since 2005, Dr. Reichart has been writing health and wellness articles for several golf publications and golf websites (GoodTimeGolf.com and GolfBuzz.com) and was invited to serve on the Advisory Board of the Golf Fitness Magazine in 2007.

He also wrote an Assessment and Outcome protocol for the PGA Teaching Manual and lectures about it in the PGA Continuing Education. Dr. Reichardt was also a staff instructor for the United States Golf Fitness Association. His expertise in the physical components of golf, as well as golf education, resulted in the invitation to the Golf 20/20 task force in 2003. His innovative concepts about golf education and fitness are endorsed by a number of pro players, as well as doctors from the medical and chiropractic field. Consequently, besides maintaining an active practice, Dr. Reichardt is a much-requested lecturer and teacher at golf events and tournaments.

Having practiced yoga for thelast 13 years, he became a Certified Yoga Instructor in June 2000.

Between being an avid golfer himself, his own golf experience, and incessant learning about the importance of properly fitted equipment (became a Master Club Fitter in 2005), he was encouraged to develop his unique and extremely effective golf assessment and teaching system. In June 2005, Dr. Reichardt championed a new and innovative approach in teaching golf --- indoor, upscale golf teaching facilities that are based on the premise that the four components of golf need to function synergistically in order to produce significant improvement in each and every participant of the sport, and not just the pros. Here, the body, mind, swing mechanics and equipment are assessed and then prioritized. All are equally important and need to be addressed individually in the right order to help the golf enthusiast to improve their game and extend their playing years--- It is Dr. Reichardt's intent and mission to bring that message to the entire golf world. The first such location opened in the spring of 2006 and was running profitable after only four months, proving that the above mentioned principles work very well in an actual business setting.

Testimonials

Testimonials of Professionals

"After playing the LPGA tour for 10 years and living what I thought was a healthy lifestyle that included working out, eating right, etc., I was still forced to leave due to serious injury. I struggled for the next few years looking for ways to regain my health so I could live a normal lifestyle without pain. Thanks to Dr. Christian Reichardt, who gave me a great evaluation with specific exercises to do, I now not only live a pain-free lifestyle but I play golf, something which I thought I would never do again. I only wish I would have found him sooner."
– Deborah Vidal, Former LPGA player

"Dr. Reichardt's program provided me with priceless information."
